This is my absolute favorite chocolate cake

Batter:

2 cups white sugar*
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 sticks (1 cup) butter
1 cup water
4-5 Tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Sift together flour and sugar. In a pan, bring to a boil the butter, water, and cocoa. Pour over flowur mixture while hot. Ad buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Bake in a large jelly roll pan, ( about 10"x 15") at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Grease pan but do not flour.
PS: the pan will be brim full of batter but this is ok.

* Has to be white

Frosting:
1 stick (1/2 cup)butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 lb of powdered sugar*
4 Tbsp cocoa
4 Tbsp buttermilk

Bring to a boil cocoa, butter, and buttermilk. Add powdered sugar, and vanila. Pour onto hot cake.

* You may need to add more, but remember frosting will be thin and harden when cool

  1. I made this cake, cut it in half and spread a chocolate cream cheese frosting on one half, and placed the other half on top. Then I spread this frosting on top, and swirled melted white chocolate into it. It was AMAZING!!!
