It's Spring!

Hi, The last month we have been fishing and planting. We have planted: melons, cucumbers, peppers, herbs, squash, and all kinds of tomatoes (thees are all in raised beds). In our regular garden we are growing: mint, greens, peas, onions, and potatoes. My favorite of thees are: melons, cucumbers, peppers, herbs, tomatoes, mint, and peas. I especially like the cucumbers with cream cheese and rye. The mint is good in lemonade when you let it sit. Jalapenos are good when they are stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon and then grilled, yummm!

All by my self !

Hi, Every three days I have to change my inset. A inset is what my insulin comes through to go inside me. For the inset I have to have: a insulin cartridge, a needle, a new inset(a strange shaped object that has a clip with a needle and a long and THIN tube), a insulin tube(sort of looks like the normal liquid medicine bottle except smaller), my pump, and of course me!. This morning my mom let me do it by my self. I had to: take the old inset off and clean the old site. I took the old cartridge out, rewind the piston that pushes the insulin, fill a cartridge with insulin, place cartridge in pump, load cartridge, prime to make sure the tube worked, and place the inset in my site. It was my stomach this morning so it was pretty easy but still I did it my self!

veggie bucket

Hi, for snacks during the day we have a veggie bucket. My youngest sister and brother LOVE it! The bucket includes: carrots, celery, brocoli, jicama, and cucumbers all cut up ready to eat. We are looking forward to the bell peppers, tomatoes, sweet peas, spinach, and maybe nasturtiums(for salads) in the Spring and Summer. For my birthday I got a rabbit(I named it Shiloh) and he loves the ends of the veggies! On carrots I like to have either: peanut butter, cream cheese, or salad dressing and the same things on the rest.

broke again!

Hi, A few posts ago I mentioned my L.E.D screen went out on my pump, unfortunately it happened again! It was on Sunday February 28, I was out making a bow and arrow in the back-woods and I was going to see what time it was and my pump was black! So I had to go into the house. When I got home my pump was fine but my mom said I had to get another. When we were about to call the screen on my pump had lines of many different colors then it went completely black. On Tuesday (March 3rd) I got the new pump and we set it up all by ourselves! So far it has not broken (thankfully!). We learned to write down all the settings in the book! We are still working on a basal setting that keeps my blood sugars steady. With all this craziness, I have been both high and low. It will be interesting to see what my A1c will turn out in April.
